Members of Sligo Hurling Panel visit our School
On Wednesday 29th April, members of the Sligo Hurling Panel visited St. Edward's NS, Ballytivnan, and brought the Nicky Rackard Cup to show to pupils. Johnny Mullens Coaching Co-ordinator spoke to the pupils about the importance of practicing their skills, in whatever sport they chose. He told them, "Perfect practice makes the perfect player". He was accompanied by Captain Damien Burke, Ciarán Brennan, Cian Hackett, Darragh Cox, John Kelly and Keith Raymond.

Mrs Mc Gowan with Keith and the trophy he won with 6th class and the Nicky Rackard Cup
Keith, a past pupil of St. Edward's NS had a special message for the children as he showed them the 1st trophy he ever won, when he was 11 years old. He told them to practice, enjoy their exercise and stay healthy.
Captain Damien Burke spoke to the pupils about the great friendships you develop when you play team sports.
These players were wonderful role-models for the pupils and their message of the benefits of all sport, but especially Hurling was inspirational. It was a fitting celebration of GAA 125 and Active School Week.
