St. Edward's National School Sligo

Lent

The children in St. Edward's are collecting for Trócaire this Lent. Each classroom has their own Trócaire box. In each class children have made their own special lenten promises and are trying to be nicer and more helpful during lent.
They have learned about Domitille and her family from Rwanda.
In room 10 we learned about what Trócaire are doing to help families in Rwanda. They train women to make baskets and other items to sell in the market. They run factories which provide local farmers with seeds and tools and then buy their produce off them at a fair price. They provide meals for children attending school, sometimes this is the only meal they get during the day. The picture below is of Domitille (second from the left ) and her family. Trócaire has helped them in many ways. Domitille's picture is on every Trócaire box this year. We are collecting money and putting it into the box each day.
