PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE.
Welcome to St. Edward's N.S. The staff of this school, will make every effort to ensure your child is happy and successful at school.
You as parents have a very important role to play in your child's education. Children learn best when their parents have a positive attitude to school, so here in St. Edward's we establish strong links with parents.
It is very important that children attend school regularly and punctually. We are aware that children who are regularly absent from school, fall behind in their work and experience difficulty at school.
The Education Welfare Officer will contact parents if pupils are absent from school for 20 days or more.
Remember, children learn best when they experience success in learning, and when they know that their parents and teachers want them to be successful.
In this booklet, we have included information regarding school rules and school policy. There is also some information on the care of school books, homework and on discipline. As parents, you have an important role to play in these areas.
Education at St. Edward's N.S. is concerned with the all-round, total development of your child. Subjects include English, Irish, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science, Art, Music, Drama, P.E., Social, Personal and Health Education and Religion. We emphasise the importance of reading and ask parents to read to and with their children at home. Children are encouraged to talk about what they read.
All classrooms have a computer, and the children use the computers in many different subjects.
It is very important that parents and teachers co-operate together, to give the children every chance to develop their talents.
We look forward to working with you.
"Ní neart go cur le cheile".
Jean Mc Gowan (Principal) on behalf of the staff of St.Edward's N.S.
